<p>我喝威士忌的經驗尚淺，Ben Nevis 對我來說是很陌生，我第一次喝這酒廠的威士忌是近三年前，到目前為止只喝過三款。</p>
<p>Ben Nevis 據說於 1825 年由綽號 &#8220;Long John" 的John McDonald 所建立，那 &#8220;Long John" 亦即是現時市場上同名的調合威士忌。John McDonald 為甚麼叫 &#8220;Long John"，據說是他很高大，long 是指他的體長，其他的你自由發揮。(既然是高大，為甚麼不叫作 &#8220;Tall John" 呢&#8230;.)</p>
<p>Ben Nevis 是山名，位於蘇格蘭西部，山高海拔 1,345 米，是英國(大不列顛，OK?)最高的山，酒廠座落於其山腳，以其地為名。一如大多數的蘇格蘭酒廠，通常都會有多次轉換老闆的經歷。對 Ben Nevis 來說，其中一次的賣豬仔值得一提，就是於 1955 年被 Ben Nevis Distillery (Fort William) Ltd. 收購，隨後在廠內添置了連續式蒸餾器用來生產穀物威士忌，這些穀物威士忌在以後的一段日子，調合了同廠的麥芽威士忌，成就了很罕見的 Single Blended Whisky，即是自家廠同時生產穀物威士忌和麥芽威士忌，並自家調合。Ben Nevis 的穀物威士忌於 1971 年便停止生產，所以市場上的 Ben Nevis single blended whisky 是很珍貴的了。現時同一酒廠同時生產穀物威士忌和麥芽威士忌，亦有生產 single blended whisky 的，還有 Loch Lomond。</p>
<p>Ben Nevis 於 1986 年閉廠，尤幸於 1989 年被日本的 Nikka 收購，於1991 年重新投產，一直至今。</p>
<p>&#8220;抄考"完酒廠歷史後，是時候介紹一款 Ben Nevis 的威士忌，是其入門版的十年陳。</p>
<p>Ben Nevis 10 years, 700 ml, 46%</p>
<p>氣味: 蜂蜜，黑棗，橙皮果醬，拖肥，舊木頭，茶葉<br />
口味: 蜜餞，熟透的櫻桃，黃萁，黑朱古力，舊木頭，黑茶<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，黑朱古力，啡糖<br />
結論: 很甜的香氣，那蜜糖的香氣很特別，對了，像蘆卡蜂蜜，舊木頭及茶葉的草本氣味有助平衡甜味。中等酒體，沒有氣味上的甜，黑朱古力的甘苦味道和草本味道較明確。中等長度的餘蘊，較簡單，但甘苦適度。入門版的酒款但以 ABV 46% 裝瓶，有誠意，雖說誠意不能當飯食，總比好些名廠千方百計省成本，如降低酒精度和大出特出無陳年標示 NAS，當然價錢方面呢&#8230;.無証無據不評論了吧。說會這款酒，雖然只是十年陳的酒，但整體上沒有新酒的感覺，結實，平衡，亦有點特色，飲得過之選。</p>

<p>前文介紹了 Antiquary 的<a title="鑽石樽型好易認 Antiquary Blended Whisky" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/12/19/antiquary/" target="_blank">入門版</a>和主打的<a title="鑽石再一瓶 Antiquary 12 years Whisky" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/12/22/antiquary-12-years/" target="_blank">十二年陳</a>，現在一跳直接跳到二十一年陳。這系列不像大多數的其他品牌那樣，是沒有中間的十七或十八年陳的酒款，全線就只有三款酒，很精簡。這二十一年陳是 Antiquary 的最高級酒款，算是旗艦級吧，那就喝喝這鑽石瓶的旗艦酒款吧。</p>
<p>Antiquary 21 years, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>氣味: 菠蘿，橙皮果醬，檀木，綿花糖，香草<br />
口味: 柑橘皮，烤木頭，咖啡渣，冰糖，香料<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，柑橘皮，木材<br />
評語: 淡淡的香氣，衝鼻而來是菠蘿，繼而是香甜的果醬和棉花糖，幽香的檀木氣味沁出，伴以點點香草。中等酒體，柔順，清甜但又有焦香的味道，清香的柑橘皮和以一點香料。中等長度的餘蘊，仍然是有柑橘皮的味道，再加些木材的微苦。氣味上頗淡，需要用心去分辮當中的各種氣味，酒體很柔軟亦輕清，可嘗到多種味道但卻是點到即止。以二十一年陳的老酒來說，我會有較多的期望，雖則這方面未能做到老酒的架勢，不過整體上做到主調連貫，柔和平衡，好的調和威士忌所必須的要求，喝起來亦令人十分舒適，適合忙碌過後輕鬆一番的威士忌，飲得過。</p>

<p>前文簡單介紹過 <a title="鑽石樽型好易認 Antiquary Blended Whisky" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/12/19/antiquary/" target="_blank">Antiquary</a> 這品牌的威士忌，亦分享了其入門版的酒評，那現再說說這品牌威士忌的一二事。</p>
<p>按網上資料所知，Antiquary  的配方中，麥芽和穀物威士忌原酒來自約三十家酒廠，麥芽原酒所佔的比例算高，有約 50% 前後。</p>
<p>又說，麥芽威士忌來自斯貝塞 Speyside，高地 Highlands，低地 Lowlands 和 島嶼區。</p>
<p>核心麥芽威士忌有來自斯貝塞 Speyside 的 Cragganmore，Linkwood，Benrinnes，Mortloch 和 Glenrothes 等，給予平衡細緻的特性和果味。至於高地 Highlands，則是 Tomatin，Royal Lochnagar 和 Clynelish 等，加強複雜度和另整體更豐富。低地 Lowlands 的 Glenkinchie 以柔和及果味去平衡高地的硬朗，再加些海島區如 Bowmore 輕輕添些煙熏泥煤豐富整體表現。穀物威士忌 Grain whiskies 方面，是來自 Camaronbridge 和 Port Dundas，賦予清新和活躍的風格。以上，云云。</p>
<p>好了，說了那麼多酒廠，混在一起也分不出的吧，調和威士忌就是喝調配的藝術。不過呢，那些專業品飲家的品味酒標 label tasting，一面看資料一面"品"，可能"品"得出有包含那些酒廠，大鳴大吹的跟你分析的吧。我呢，還是省點，認認真真的，踏踏實實的去喝那調配的藝術吧。</p>
<p>Antiquary 12 years Blended Whisky, 700 ml, 40%</p>
<p>氣味: 乾棗，拖肥，橙花軟糖，牛油糖<br />
口味: 黑咖啡，焦糖，多士，柑橘皮，蜜糖<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，咖啡渣，乾果皮<br />
評語: 甜甜的乾棗，奶製品的糖果，花果的香氣，很甜。酒體柔順，焦糖咖啡，下了兩滴柑橘精油，香濃醒神，配上一片多士，那就是一頓下午茶。 中等長度的餘蘊，輕軟的咖啡和乾果皮苦味。輕輕軟軟的香氣和酒體，連餘韻也一樣，不複雜但平衡易飲， 尤其喜愛那柑橘的主調，不錯的輕鬆酒款。</p>

<p>前文介紹了一系列的 Tomatin 威士忌，原來除了自家的單一麥芽威士忌之外，Tomatin 名下還有一個調和威士忌的系列，於 1995 年從 United Distillers 收購回來的 J &amp; W Hardie Ltd. 旗下的 Antiquary 是也。Tomatin 的香港代理 T&#8217;z Limited 也有引進 Antiquary 系列的其中三款威士忌。</p>
<p>Antiquary 這品牌對我來說確實陌生，不過其鑽石切割造型的樽身設計的確特別，就好像 Glenfiddich 的三角樽一樣，容易令人留下印象。Antiquary 的樽身的確又得過些甚麼設計獎的，除了好看外，亦於運輸和貨架展示是較省空間，云云。不過呢，酒是要來喝的，任憑你包括華麗名貴驚天地泣鬼神，內裡的不好喝的話你回家鄉食蕉好了。</p>
<p>先簡單說說 Antiquary 的來由，John 和 William Hardie 最先於 1857 年於愛丁堡 Edinburgh 的 Greenside Place 合作業務，Antiquary 這款威士忌則於 1888 年首創，Antiquary 的名字取材自一本據說很著名，由 Sir Walter Scott 所寫，於 1816 年出版的同名哥德式 Gothic 小說 The Antiquary。很明顯，我這老粗是完全不曉得甚麼是哥德式小說，亦不可能知道 Sir Walter Scott 是甚麼人，我在網上"抄考"的罷了，這本書的其他資料可問全能的谷歌大神。</p>
<p>好了，還是不再研究甚麼哥德式或傳教士式了，先喝第一款的 Antiquary。</p>
<p>Antiquary Blended Whisky, 700 ml, 40%</p>
<p>這是 Antiquary 系列的入門版，按官方資料得知，這款酒的原酒是使用北美橡木桶 North American Oak 陳年，調合後裝回橡木桶中再作四至六個月的熟成才進行裝瓶。</p>
<p>氣味: 乾棗，啡糖，蜜炙藥材，牛油(黃油)，曲奇餅<br />
口味: 黑咖啡，焦糖，過火多士，塑膠<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，燒焦木材，西藥藥粉<br />
評語: 氣味濃郁，香甜的乾棗和啡糖，微苦帶甜的藥材，甘美油閏的牛油曲奇。柔軟輕怡的酒體，輕軟中亦見骨袈，調子轉向焦香和草本，餘蘊更甚。氣味馥郁香甜，不複雜但平衡，甚佳。但口味和餘蘊較偏鋒，燒焦木材和藥材的苦味較突兀，餘蘊中的西藥藥粉尤甚。氣味甚佳但口味和餘蘊未能配合，但以入門版酒款來說，也算及格，尤其是那美好的香氣。</p>

<p>我曾經介紹過數款 Tomatin 的威士忌，亦報導過我參與過的一場<a title="Tomatin 威士忌品飲會" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/03/11/tomatin-tasting-2016/" target="_blank">Tomatin 威士忌品飲會</a>的盛況。我曾經提及，Tomatin 及 Antiquary 的港澳代理 <a title="T'z Limited" href="http://www.tzgroup.com.hk" target="_blank">T&#8217;z </a>團隊很有熱誠，他們早已提議安排一場 Sipping Malt &#8220;<a title="窮酒L分贓會" href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/207009879313909/" target="_blank">窮酒L分贓會</a>&#8220;的會員專屬的品飲會，但又是我人窮事忙一直未能成事，直到昨晚，這醞釀了多時的品飲會終於完滿舉行，不是一場，而是兩場，連同友會"<a title="窮L無恥酒會" href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/158906534297452/" target="_blank">窮L無恥酒會</a>&#8220;的會員共六十人參與，非常熱鬧。</p>
<p>由於時間未能配合，品牌大使未能來港主持，正所謂池中無魚蝦自大，昨晚的品飲會就由我舢舨充砲艇當導賞員主講。品飲會分為兩場，第一場的主題為"我們的第一杯威士忌"，對象為初次接觸威士忌的人士，透過投影片文字和圖片，導賞員的講解，品味數款精選的 Tomatin 和 Antiquary 威士忌，希望令參加者對威士忌有初步的了解，進而愛上威士忌，令威士忌世界增添新的國民。</p>
<p>至於第二場則名為"威士忌導賞團"，對象為對 Tomatin 和 Antiquary 威士忌有興趣人士，參與者都是老酒鬼，那就用 Tomatin 和 Antiquary 的威士忌來一場盲品 blind tasting 吧! 我不是達人大師或甚麼資深品飲家，我那有資格玩盲品 blind tasting，只是想透過盲品，希望令參與者打破單一麥芽威士忌 Single Malt Whisky 和調合威士忌 Blended Whisky 之間的世俗固有觀念。話雖如此，我們的會員果然是老酒鬼，真的四款也猜得中。 盲完後開眼重見光明，再喝多數款有特色的威士忌，會員們還即場合資買了瓶單桶原酒分了來喝，充分貫徹分贓精神，大家在一片夾雜粗口的歡笑聲中享受這場品飲會。</p>

<p>Nowadays, Hibiki is a big name in whisky market. Suntory positioned Hibiki whisky as a premium gift. In 1989 Suntory launched the first Hibiki. It was a 17 years old bottling, much older than most other brands&#8217; elementary bottling.</p>
<p>Suntory at last released a younger version of Hibiki in 2009, the 12 years old bottling. Interestingly that the firstly launched market was neither Japan nor Asia, but to US and Europe. This younger version of Hibiki is not simply just blended by younger age of whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Further interesting point is that part of its ingredient whiskies are aged in the casks which previously held Japanese plum liquor.</p>
<p>The sample I tasted was from a bottling about 2013. I am not sure whether is it same as to the current release. By the way, it is rumored that this Hibiki 12 years old will be discontinued from the product line. In fact most distilleries including Suntory promote their NAS (No Age Statement) whiskies and of course Hibiki is joining the rank.</p>
<p>Hibiki 響 12 years, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>Hay, floral, honey, plume, raisin, citrus<br />
Dried flower, toast, chocolate, honey, orange<br />
Medium length, roasted dark coffee, orange peel, woody<br />
Comment: Mild aroma, perfume, dried flower and hay, honey sweetness, little sour of plume. Light body, not sweet as to smell. Medium length aftertaste, a bit bitterness from toasty and tannin. Very good smell, blossom &amp; perfume. A smooth, soft and perfume whisky but simple. Good daily dram, if price can be neglected.</p>

<p>Hibiki is one of the major product lines in Suntory. For standard bottlings, there are the youngest <a href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/06/16/hibiki-12-1/" title="Hibiki 12 Years Japanese Whisky">12 years old</a>, classic 17 years, premium 21 years and flagship 30 years old. The recent new release includes those special fancy labels and duty free exclusive versions, as well as the NAS (No Age Statement) bottling. The new NAS Hibiki is named Harmony. By the price level suggested, this new NAS Harmony becomes the elementary bottling in this product line.</p>
<p>The Hibiki Harmony which I am going to introduce is not the current elementary version. It was one of the two special editions released in 2013.</p>
<p>Hibiki  Mellow Harmony, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>The formula of Hibiki Mellow Marmony is based on standard 17 years old by adding some Yamazaki malts of more than 30 years ago, limited to 4,000 bottles. There was another special edition released at the same time, the Deep Harmony, also based on standard 17 years old formula, blended with Hakushu malts aged in ex-red wine cask , limited to 4,000 bottle as well.</p>
<p>The Hibiki whisky is famous in smooth and soft. Now harmony plus mellow that the style of this Hibiki is very obvious.</p>
<p>Nose: Preserved plum, fresh apricot, apple, chocolate, sandalwood<br />
Palate: Honey, plum, coffee, citrus peel, spices<br />
Aftertaste: Medium length, coffee grounds, toasted wood<br />
Comments: Very sweet and soft aroma, especially the sweet with sour preserved plum, fresh apricot, delicious apple, delightful chocolate and faint wood at back. Soft and smooth body, balance between sweet and bitter. Medium length aftertaste, trended to toasty. A whisky of soft and smooth but with dimensions, good example to blended whiskies. Overall it is soft and sweet but balanced with adequate bitterness and toasty, a good whisky for leisure time.</p>

<p>今時今日 Hibiki 響 不用多介紹了吧，響的定位，是送禮級別的高級酒款，自一九八九年上市開始，除了早期少數的無陳年標示版外，響的"入門"版是<a title="響十七" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2011/06/01/hibiki-17-years/" target="_blank">響十七年陳</a>，真的是不同凡"響"。</p>
<p>直到二零零九年，三德利 Suntory 才推出較親民的十二年陳，但當時的首發市場不是日本也不是亞洲，卻是歐美。這款十二年陳的響可不是簡單的下調了來自山崎 Yamazaki，白洲 Hakushu 和知多 Chita 原酒的年期，其部份成份酒是陳年於日式梅酒桶的。梅酒桶陳威士忌，很特別了吧。</p>
<p>我喝的是約二零一三年的酒，不肯定是否和現時的相同。另外，聽聞響十二要停產，又，現在很多酒廠，當然包括三德利在內，主力推出無陳年標示 No Age Statement (NAS) 的酒款，響亦於大軍之中。</p>
<p>Hibiki 響 12 years, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>氣味: 乾草，花香，蜜糖，布冧，葡萄乾，柑橘<br />
口味: 乾花，多士，朱古力，蜜糖，香橙<br />
餘韻: 中等長度，焦香的黑咖啡，柑橘皮，木質<br />
評語: 氣味溫和，清新的乾花和乾草氣息，點點的蜜糖香氣，帶微酸的布冧和柑橘氣味。酒身較輕，還是乾花蜜糖香橙等的味道，多鳥點烘焙的甘香。中等長度的餘韻，稍焦香甘苦。上佳充滿花果輕柔的香氣，不複雜但輕軟易飲，應該大部份人也會喜愛的口味，飲得過。</p>

<p>Hibiki 系列是 三德利 Suntory 旗下威士忌的王牌產品之一，標準酒款有經典的<a href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2011/06/01/hibiki-17-years/" title="響十七" target="_blank">十七年陳</a>，高級的<a href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2012/03/27/hibiki-21-years/" title="響廿一" target="_blank">廿一年</a>，旗艦級的三十年和調有梅酒桶的<a href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/06/16/hibiki-12-1/" title="Hibiki 12 Years Japanese Whisky">十二年陳</a>，還有一些比標準酒款同等陳年但貴很多的的甚麼花鳥風月富士風雲等的特別版和免稅限定版，與及近期各大酒廠"不約而同"推出的無陳年標示 No Age Statement (NAS) 的 Hibiki  響 Harmony。新的 Hibiki  響 Harmony 算是大眾市場的入門酒款，價格比十二年陳平，但由於是無陳年標示而我亦未有喝過，是否相對於酒質來說真的"平"，我未能評論。</p>
<p>我現在要介紹的 Hibiki  Harmony，可不是現時的標準版，是 2013 年推出的兩款特別版的其中一款。</p>
<p>Hibiki  響 Mellow Harmony, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>這款 Hibiki  響 Mellow Harmony 是以<a title="響十七" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2011/06/01/hibiki-17-years/" target="_blank">響十七</a>的配方為基礎，調入三十年陳或以上的山崎 Yamazaki 原酒，穀物原酒則是來自知多 Chita 蒸餾廠，限量四千瓶。同期推出的另一款 Hibiki，是 Deep Harmony，同樣以響十七的配方為基礎，調入  ex-red wine cask 桶陳的 白洲 Hakushu，同樣是限量四千瓶。</p>
<p>說回這款要介紹的 Hibiki，名字叫 Mellow Harmony。Hibiki 已經是平衡柔和的了，還要 Harmony，再加上 Mellow，這款酒的風格看名字已經很明顯了。來喝喝看是否真的這麼芳醇和諧。於此多謝酒友賜酒。</p>
<p>氣味: 蜜餞梅子，鮮杏，蘋果，朱古力，檀木<br />
口味: 蜜糖，梅子，咖啡，柑橘皮，香料<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，咖啡渣，燻木材<br />
結論: 很甜美柔和的香氣，甜中帶酸的蜜餞梅子尤其吸引，清香的鮮杏，香甜的紅蘋果，甘醇的朱古力，幽幽的木材香氣。酒體香軟，柔順，甘甜兼備。中等長度的餘蘊，甘香為主。很柔順易飲但不單調的一款酒，充份展現出調和威士忌的特性和優點，雖然整體偏香軟甘甜，仍有點點焦苦平衡，餘暇輕鬆時的佳品，正斗之作。</p>

<p>很多人(包括我)認為有事業有錢有樓有名車有女人(男人)就最快樂，但對不丹，一個位於中印之間的佛國，快樂是以國民幸福指數 Gross National Happiness (GNH) 來計算的。</p>
<p>不丹是全球快樂指數最高的國家。國民幸福指數 Gross National Happiness (GNH)，由不丹國王吉格梅·辛格·旺楚克於1972年提出，並非純以金錢物質作為指標，而是參考四大支柱，分別是環境和資源保護、公平和可持續的經濟發展、傳統文化的保留和優良的管治制度。之後於 2010 年演化為九大領域，包括心靈快樂、精神健康、時間平衡、社區活力、文化活力、生態活力、教育、生活標準及良好管治理，再定下 33 個"指示器"，如心靈快樂領域內的生活滿足和靈性，時間平衡領域內的工作和睡眠。</p>
<p>對崇尚物質生活的城市人來說，GNH 真的是不可思議。但不丹人民就是認為自己最幸福，每人每地的背景不同，正是你有你快樂，我有我幸福，滿足就好。有關不丹和 GNH 的詳細，有興趣請到谷歌或維基看看。</p>
<p>好了，回到主題，世界上最快樂的威士忌，說的就是世界上最快樂的國家不丹出產的威士忌。</p>
<p>酒肉穿腸過，佛國不丹有釀酒賣酒的，不要大驚少怪，不丹的旅遊業很不錯的，有酒賣合理不過。除了進口酒精飲料外，不丹也有自家生產的土炮如威士忌,Rum, vodka, brandy 和 Gin 酒等。就說威士忌，出名的品牌有 Black Mountain，Royal Supreme，Changta，K5 Himalayan 和 Special Courier。</p>
<p>這些眾多的威士忌品牌，與及提及過的Rum, vodka, brandy 和 Gin 酒等，其實都是由同一間公司生產，Army Welfare Project Limited(AWP)，光看名字就覺得和阿公有關。Army Welfare Project Limited 於 1976 年成立，於不丹國內有多個廠房，威士忌是於 Gelephu 的廠房生產。</p>
<p>值得一提的是，這些威士忌是生產出來，並非釀製出來的。AWP 旗下的威士忌，都是由進口威士忌調合自家的穀物蒸餾酒而成，未有資料顯示那些的穀物蒸餾酒有否經過木桶陳年，又或調配後的"威士忌"有沒有進桶作"後熟"。以我所知，好些南亞國家酒廠如印度等，其威士忌也是如此生產的，不是新鮮事。</p>
<p>寫了那裡多前奏，是時候入戲肉了，現在就介紹一款不丹威士忌吧，多謝老友提供樣本。</p>

<p>AWP 的威士忌生產原來頗認真的，他們獲得 ISO 22000:2005 食品安全管理。雖則 ISO 認證於酒質無直接關係，但或多或少給予飲家一定程度的信心。</p>
<p>這款 Special Courier Whisky 有調入蘇格蘭麥芽威士忌，且看看喝起來如何。</p>
<p>氣味: 燕麥，烘焙穀物，煙燻，啡糖<br />
口味: 拖肥，多士，香烟，乾草，香料<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，藥草，焦木<br />
結論: 很不錯的香氣，很有老式蘇格蘭威士忌風味，頗喜歡淡淡的煙燻和穀物香氣。酒體柔和，仍然有些煙燻，焦香多士，乾燥草本，辛辣香料，新酒氣息，中等長度有近似藥草和焦木的苦味餘蘊。意想不都的很"蘇格蘭"，頗有煙燻和烘焙穀物的味道，加上些烟草，喝起來應該調入好些不錯的蘇格蘭麥芽威士忌。雖則簡單及有新酒的感覺，但沒有奇怪或難喝的味道，以威士忌來說是及格的。</p>
<p>(喝過後感到些幸福的感覺&#8230;.當然了，全球有超過七億人，甚至冇乾淨水飲，有鉛水喝已經比世界上很多人幸福的了，更何況有威士忌你喝?!快謝主隆恩吧!)</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">English Version</span></strong> of Tasting Note</p>
<p>Most people (like me) take social status, career, money &amp; etc. to judge the extent of &#8220;happiness". Bhutan, a country of Buddhism situated in between China and India, determines the &#8220;happiness" by Gross National Happiness (GNH).</p>
<p>Bhutan is the most happiest country in the world in accordance with the GNH. GNH was bought up by the King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck in 1972. GNH is not based on money and material things but to four pillars, which are conservation of the natural environment, fair and sustainable development, preservation of cultural values, and good governance. They have been further developed into 9 domains in 2010, namely psychological well-being, mental and spiritual health, time-balance, social and community vitality, cultural vitality, ecological vitality, education, living standards and good governance. 33 inductors have been developed thereunder, for example, life satisfaction and spirituality under psychological well-being domain, work and sleep under time-balance domain.</p>
<p>GNH may be inconceivable to city people who are pursuing for material well-being life. Bhutan people just satisfy their life in their soils. Please go to Google or Wikipedia for further information about GNH.</p>
<p>Back to the subject, the so-called &#8220;The World&#8217;s Happiest Whisky" means the whisky from Bhutan.</p>
<p>It is not surprised that alcoholic beverages selling in a Buddhism country as tourism is one of the important industries in Bhutan. In addition to imported alcoholic beverages, Bhutan has local production of spirits such as whisky, rum, vodka, brandy, gin and etc. For whiskies, there are famous brands such as Nlack Mountain, Royal Supereme, Changta, K5 Himalayan and Special Courier.</p>
<p>Interestingly that all these different brands of whisky are produced by the same single company, Army Welfare Project Limited (AWP). AWP was established in 1976 and she has multiple plants in Bhutan. Whiskies are manufactured in Gelephu&#8217;s plant.</p>
<p>One more interesting fact that AWP whiskies are not &#8220;brewed" but to &#8220;manufacture". AWP whiskies are in fact blended form imported whiskies and local distilled grain spirits. There is no information about aging of local new make and wood finishing to whiskies being blended. However, this kind of whisky making is common in some South Asian countries, e.g. India.</p>

<p>The production of whisky by AWP is quite serious, they are accredited of ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management. Though ISO accreditation deal nothing about &#8220;tasting quality", it bring people confidence in certain degrees.</p>
<p>This Special Courier Whisky is blended with Scotch Malt. How does it taste likely?</p>
<p>Nose: Oat, toasted cereal, smoke, brown sugar<br />
Palate: Toffee, toast, cigarette, hay, spicy<br />
Aftertaste: Medium  length, herb, burnt wood<br />
Comment: Pretty good smell, very Scotch old fashion blended, lovely smoky and grain. Soft and mild at palate, still some smoke, a bit toasty, dried plant and herb, hot spicy, element of new spirit, bitterness of herb and burnt wood in medium length aftertaste. Unexpectedly very &#8220;Scottish",  quite smoky and toasted grain, little bit tobacco, seemed blended with considerable fine Scotch malts, though simple and feeling of young spirit, very drinkable as to a whisky, neither odd nor offensive favor, passed.</p>
