<p>Glenmorangie 18 years old is the mainstream product of the standard series. Fancy looking package, considerably old age and adaqute mid-priced, it seems a good alternative for gift selection. How about its taste?</p>
<p>Glenmorangie 18 years Extreme Rare, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>According to the information from official website, this Glenmorangie was firstly aging in American white oak, though not mentioned, mostly ex-Bourbon cask. When it aged 15 years old, 30% of which would be transferred to Oloroso Sherry casks, the rest remains in their original cask, and then blended together in 3 years later.</p>
<p>It is time to open the package to drink&#8230;.Oops, mine was just a sample from my friend. No opening ceremony!</p>
<p>Nose: Nectar, dried flower, dried date, plain bread, white pepper<br />
Palate: Honey water, mango, toffee, tea, pepper<br />
Aftertaste: Medium length, tea, toast, spices<br />
Comment: Very fresh sweet nectar, perfume dried flower, mixed with sweet dried fruit, hints of yeast of bread, spices adding favor. Soft body, refreshing fruit tea with honey seasoning, followed by sweet toffee, hot spices at end. Medium length aftertaste, somehow feeling of English tea. Good in overall, just a bit too soft, lack of power, integrity and balance not at peak, a good but not outstanding whisky for an 18 years old with HK$1400 price tag (HK duty paid retail price).</p>

<p>前文介紹了 <a title="格蘭傑 Glenmorangie 18 years Extreme Rare" href="http://www.sippingmalt.com/2016/06/27/glenmorangie-18-years-extreme-rare/" target="_blank">Glenmorangie 18 years Extreme Rare</a>，酒質其實不錯的就只是和香港的零售價不相稱。前文亦提及那 Glenmorangie 18 years Extreme Rare 的包裝很華麗，送禮大方好看。我手上有一瓶舊版的十八年陳，包裝卻是簡樸的圓紙筒。新舊版包裝大不同，那喝起來分別又如何呢?</p>
<p>Glenmorangie 18 years, 700 ml, 43%, old bottling</p>
<p>氣味: 蜜糖，乾棗，檀木，紅茶，朱古力，橙花軟糖<br />
口味: 紅茶，朱古力，焦糖，柑橘皮，香料<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，木質，咖啡渣<br />
結論: 香甜的蜜糖和乾果，很幽香的類似檀木的香氣和甘醇的茶香，優質的朱古力和清香的橙花軟糖，不濃厚，但令人很舒適。酒體稍輕，柔和但仍然有骨架，較甘香。餘蘊為木質類的甘苦，也是柔軟舒適。整體不複雜，但平衡雅致，亦算細膩，令人喝得舒適，正斗。</p>
<p>雖則這舊版較好喝，但如果新舊兩款酒放在一起於一般酒行賣的話，就算價錢相同，我相信新版的銷量一定勝舊版。</p>
<p>正所謂先敬羅衣後敬人，人如是，物亦如是。所以就算功夫不足有欠涵養，只要置好行頭，四出巴結埋堆，討過名號，便可以舢舨充砲艇，走偏行捷徑，追名逐利。但要知道不會永遠風平浪靜，就算無風也會起浪，大浪湧來，舢舨始終只是短淺木船，經不起風浪，翻過艇底朝天，破布敗絮真身盡露。</p>
<p>但總有人犯賤的，寧願寒窗苦讀，打好基礎，一步一腳印，不徐不疾的向目標邁進。當然亦要懂得看準時機，適時起蟄，終歸成就大業，聲名鵲起。不過亦有不少人空有才華，以為錐之在囊，自我空想，坐待伯樂，蹉跎歲月，最後只落得終日抱怨懷才不遇終老。</p>

<p>Glenmorangie 的十八年陳，是其標準系列的中堅酒款，知名酒廠，中高的年份，中上的價錢，華麗的包裝，真的是高級的送禮佳品。那自用呢?</p>
<p>Glenmorangie 18 years Extreme Rare, 700 ml, 43%</p>
<p>根據官方網站介紹，這款 Glenmorangie 是先於美國白橡木桶陳，雖則官網沒有明示，但相信會是波本桶，如果是雪莉桶的話，一定會大刺刺的寫出來。滿十五年後，其中的百分三十會轉入 Oloroso 雪莉桶，其餘的繼續於美國白橡木桶陳年，三年後再將兩批酒調合裝瓶上市。</p>
<p>是時候打開華貴包裝喝吧&#8230;.但我喝的是老友送贈的樣本，未能作開瓶禮呢。多謝老友賜酒。</p>
<p>氣味: 花蜜，乾花，乾棗，白麵包，白胡椒<br />
口味: 蜜糖水，芒果，拖肥，紅茶，胡椒<br />
餘蘊: 中等長度，紅茶，焦香多士，香料<br />
結論: 很清甜的花蜜，幽香的乾花，夾雜甘甜的乾果，有些白麵包發酵麵糰的氣味，未後的白胡椒添加風味。酒體稍軟，清甜的蜜糖果茶，隨後是甜美的拖肥，尾段有辛辣的胡椒。中等長度的餘蘊，有點英式下午茶的感覺。整體上尚算不錯，但較為輕軟，欠缺力度，融和度及平衡感稍欠火候，以十八年陳的酒和香港零售價逾千四元來說，飲得過罷了。</p>
